In order to preserve its environment and the health of its people, Sikkim has recently become the first fully organic state in the world
In this enchanted Himalayan kingdom, human beings are rediscovering millenary farming techniques and a revolutionary relationship with nature based on harmony and mutual dependence rather than exploitation.
All of Sikkim’s farmland is certified organic, and the ban on chemicals is having a tremendous impact on the quality of agricultural produces and the region’s biodiversity.
At a time when climate change is threatening the world, forcing us to redefine our development model and find alternatives to industrial agriculture, Sikkim’s long-term bet on environmental protection, organic farming and sustainable tourism could be the solution to our problems.
